The Shangri-La Le Tousserok: Get to know Mauritius

You could spend a week at Shangri-La Le Touessrok happily looking at the Indian Ocean. Although, when there’s an exclusive island a short boat ride away, that seems a little unadventurous. Then there’s the east coast to sail, local villages to e-bike through, a market to visit and the fairways of Île aux Cerfs to investigate. Checking in is really only the start of it.
Shangri-La Le Touessrok already has four kilometres of coastline and six beaches to its name, then it throws in a few more islands for good measure. Îlot Mangénie is reserved exclusively for hotel guests and reached by a short boat ride across the lagoon, with secluded beaches, clear water and beachside dining waiting on the other side. And the island hopping doesn’t stop there. Golfers can take the boat to Île aux Cerfs Golf Club, an 18-hole course on its own island surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
Getting out from Shangri-La Le Touessrok doesn’t necessarily require a car. Guests can take an e-bike along Mauritius’ east coast, passing ocean views and local villages before reaching the market for Mauritian specialities and seasonal fruit. It’s a lovely way to see a more local side of the island and find out what’s in season while they’re there.
Then there’s the sea route. Catamarans head through the lagoon and along the coast with swimming stops on the way, or the Chic Champagne cruise adds breakfast and Champagne to the morning’s sailing. Bike ride or boat ride? Decisions, decisions.
As Mauritius moves into its warmer months, locally grown mangoes and lychees come into season and onto the tables at Shangri-La Le Touessrok. Guests can get even closer to the garden at Il Giardino, an open-air dining experience in the Chef’s Garden, surrounded by fresh herbs and tropical greenery. And when it’s time for a drink, Sega Bar and Coco’s Beach Bar have signature cocktails alongside the Botanical Collection, the resort’s elevated take on going alcohol-free.
Here you are booking much more than a beach holiday: an exclusive island, two 18-hole golf courses, extensive water sports, sailing, wellness, destination dining and one of the region’s largest Kids Clubs are all part of the experience
