Embrace the staycation

Embrace the staycation

The UK government have said it’s too early to think about an overseas holiday but there’s every opportunity to enjoy a staycation at some point this year.

Great Little Breaks is one of our trusted partners who offer a diverse range of lovely breaks across the UK from the South Coast to the Scottish Highlands. Here are some ideas of the best the UK has to offer in staycation experiences whether you are looking to go away imminently or are planning a trip later in the year.

UK’s best walking trails

With roughly 19,490 miles of coastline to explore, plus plenty of countryside route,s there are many incredible walking trails to choose from.  Take the Cotswolds Way: this 100 mile route starts in Chipping Campden and ends in the UNESCO World Heritage Site city of Bath.  Stunning countryside scenery and pretty villages keep you company along the way and of course the Cotswolds is home to many traditional pubs.

The perfect British town

Idyllic towns and villages and incredible landscapes are what define the quintessential essence of the UK.  That and the great British pub of course – is there a theme going on here?

From the seaside tradition of Bournemouth to the unbeatable scenery of Windemere and the historic and cultural interest of Stratford upon Avon and Bletchley, UK towns offer staycationers a chance to fully explore their interests at leisure with itineraries crafted to ensure you get the best out of your stay.

Unique outings and attractions

There are many unique spots on our doorstep in the UK; have you ever wanted to know more about the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle or find out how Birmingham taught the world to write at the Pen Museum?  Now you can indulge your curiosities and take the time to explore some of the UK attractions that tell the story of our incredible history.

The wonders of the UK’s art scene

We are incredibly fortunate in the UK to be able to enjoy art wherever we go.  From small galleries to large museums, the UK is home to some of the world’s most brilliant collections and as a small nation, we have played a huge part in shaping art history. Take a short break in St Ives and visit the Tate St Ives overlooking the beach or the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Gardens. Barbara Hepworth claimed the seaside was one of her greatest inspirations and her studio is remains just as she left it.

A weekend in Manchester will entice you to The Lowry in Manchester which is home to a great exhibition of the Lancashire painter, LS Lowry and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool houses the biggest art collection in England outside London.  That in itself is a reason to visit.

We are of course always here to help so do get in touch via email, give us a ring or make an appointment to chat to us over zoom about your next stay away.
